What Top Insurance Producers Say

Who knows what lies inside the minds of top insurance salespeople? The June/July issue of The Insurance & Investment Journal knows, thanks to reports of the 2015 Canada Sales Congress, held May 20th in Toronto.

Here are excerpts of ‘some wise words’ and ‘advicelets’ from top sales presenters: (more…)

Aspiring to the Dumbest Catch Phrase

There’s a broadcaster for the New York Yankees baseball team who belts out whenever a Yankees player hits a home run, “See Ya!”.  I’ll grant that at least it’s a short phrase.  But it makes no sense.  And I’m not saying this because I’ve never cared a whit for the Yankees.  (I grew up a Montreal Expos fan.  As they’re not around anymore, I’ve reluctantly become a Toronto Blue Jays follower.) It was based on a valuation for assets passed on to other consultants, i.e. clients for whom they would take over servicing. (more…)

Getting Tire-d

Today has been one of those ‘getting new summer tires installed’ days – of course, in this part of the world in conjunction with exchanging the services of winter tires.

In past years it was customary for waiting areas in auto service departments to be rather non-descript and borderline comfortable.  Magazines and chairs tended to be old and somewhat dingy, dimensions generally small.  Nowadays, as part of the evolution of surroundings, likely more amenable to customer repeat business or upselling, environments have been enhanced with more modern and (more…)

Euphemistic Financial Terminology

The financial and insurance service industries in Canada is being regulated toward fuller disclosure to clients about both costs and performance of mutual fund investments and accounts content.  In turn, the companies affected arestudying and materializing ways in which to provide ‘clear and transparent (more…)
